Part of ~lance's adventure in Piniglarism
Wow just one week ago I was having surgery. Here’s a quick recap:
Wednesday night I was eating my last meal. I just began a 3 week series and I was happy to see it start on a good note. It seemed that earlier in the day that alot of people found out that I was having surgery. There were alot of statements like “Are you sure you hurt it? Don’t let those doctors cut you just so they can buy a new car” or “You don’t look hurt” I had my final meal at Chick-fil-A and tried to get some sleep.
Thursday I woke up early and Heather and I got down to the Surgery Center. We were there by 6:15 a.m. They took me back almost immediately and got me one of those nice rear opening gowns. For the next 2 hours we watched the terror scare in the UK. At 8:30 they took me back for surgery. They knocked me out and Heather said I was scanned in for surgery at 9:15 a.m. I woke back up at 1:30 to the nurse saying “There’s my little talker” Now this makes me wonder what all I said. Who knows? Maybe I gave her the secret to my world famous Pork Chops? Maybe I shared my faith and she accepted Christ? Maybe I told her how I secretly love reading? Who knows? So anyway she wants me to to drink something. So she gets me a coke and guess what? It came right back up. Now I know many of you will be reading this while eating your Hungry Man tv dinner while watching Wheel of Fortune so I will spare you the details. I had to stay in the recovery room for 2 hours because they wouldn’t let me go until I kept something down. You can imagine the mess I could make in 2 hours. After that the discharge didn’t take a long time and they even got me some heated towels while wating. If you’re ever in the hospital, Ask for some heated towels. Those things are awesome. I came home and slept the rest of the day.
Friday I stayed in the bed all day. The pain was bad and I was still a little under the meds. I did get to watch the Falcons preseason game.
Saturday I mainly stayed in the bed but I did have some friends come by. The pain got stronger and I kept a steady diet of pain pills.
Sunday This was the day the pain was suppossed to be it’s strongest but it wasn’t. The reason was because so many people were praying in their sunday school classes for me. Sunday night I decided to goto Jonathan’s suprise party. I really enjoyed seeing Jonathan and all of the students.
Monday The pain seemed to be gone. I had a physical therapy session and the head PT gave me several exercises to do
while I was at home. I had some more friends stop by and they even brought me a homemade peach cobbler. Yummmmmmmmm It was so good. It was sweet and tasty.
Tuesday I was looking forward to getting back to my regular life (which is pretty hetic) I kept up all my tv watching. Since Friday I am pro tv watcher. I am hooked on all the court shows and Oprah. Who knew she had such interesting shows? Tuesday night around 5:30 the pain just attacked me. Kinda like a Water Buffalo on preying mantis. I stayed in the bed for most of the night.
Wednesday I got up thinking the pain would be gone, but in fact it was more intense. So my sister came and picked me up and took me to Physical Therapy. The head PT said my knee has become inflamed and I need to get the swelling under control. My first thought was, ok what kind of medicine do you want me to take. He told me the best thing for swelling was ice. So he iced it down twice while I was there and also did some electric therapy. The pain seemed to be getting worse. I came home and finished my lesson in week 2 of my series. I went to 6Forty and participated in the signing. It was awesome (not my singing but the band was good) I came home and went to sleep.
This morning the pain has kicked in even stronger, I guess I am paying the piper for getting out and traveling yesterday. I have stayed in the bed today except to get more ice. Jason came by to see me and he brought me lunch. It was quite tasty. I am looking forward to tomorrow. Hopefully I will have less pain.
Thanks for the prayers. If you haven’t been praying, could you stop now and pray?
