As this season opened up, I was a little perplexed by a stack of fruit being the opening shot. What meaning did this have, especially since Hurley exploded through in his Camaro. I’m sure the Ramones would have been proud. I’m really starting to like the flash forwards but I am building a bad, gap filled timeline in my head. Are the happenings on the island the past or the present?
We see Jack (clean cut) watching the cannonball run on tv and is upset about it immediately.
My wife and I laughed as Hurley tried to take off and run, he has the same disease I have, his mind tells him he is faster than he really is. Right before we hear, “Book him Dano” Hurley yells out, “Don’t you know me? I’m one of the Oceanic 6.” Which leads me to my first guess. Who are the Oceanic 6?
Jack, Kate, Hurley, (Jin, Bernard, Claire) Possibly Michael, maybe he is the guy in the casket.
We see Hurley in the interrogation room down at the precinct. He is being questioned by Ana Lucia’s old partner. Hurley is shown the video of him freaking out in the convenience store and we learn later on that is was Charlie.
When asked about Ana Lucia, we see the demeanor of Hurley change and he says he never met her. It almost looked to me that he was reminded of Libby at that moment and just wants the memory to vanish.
Hurley begins starring into the 2 way mirror and it becomes an aquarium and Charlie comes swimming up. The aquarium bursts and Hurley begins to scream. Ana Lucia’s partner comes back in and tells Hurley that if he keeps this up, he will be headed to the psych house. Hurley seems glad about the decision.
Back on the island, everyone seems happy about finally going home. Jack shows his anger and says he is going to kill Locke. A pretty intense moment comes later. An awkward moment happens when Rose tells Claire to treat her boyfriend real good when he comes back. Also we see the passionate side of Ben when he wants Rousseau to take “his” daughter far away.
Hurley is an excellent cannonball diver, but the fun of splashing is quickly halted by Desmond pulling up to the shore. I guess bad memories always seem to wash their way back up sooner or later. Later Hurley pulls out his Bartkowski arm and tosses the walkie talkie into the ocean.
The off shore freighter calls Jack and asks for Naomi, but apparently the best “story” he could come up with is that she was out getting firewood. Jack (and Kate) decides to go and look for Naomi, Ben takes a long look at them hugging before he is back on his leash. Ben does have one more smooth one liner during his walk, “You better call back and let them know she’s getting a lot of firewood.” Are Naomi and her intentions really good? She did have a picture of Desmond last season. Was their a reward and she just wanted to get Desmond to safety? Are there “other” scary people wanting to get to the Island besides the freight liner 80 miles off shore?
Flash Forward to Hurley the Connect 4 Champion at the mental institution. The really creepy guy comes in and wants to upgrade Hurley’s sleeping quarters. Hurley asks him for some identification and creepy guy wants to know if they are still alive. Hurley is caught off guard and begins screaming for the nurse. I really believe that all of the Oceanic 6 are going to be followed, video taped, wire tapped, bugged and everything else to find out if “they are still alive.”
Dr. Sensitive asks Hurley if they need to talk. Hurley tells Sawyer that they will find Jack quicker if they just keep going. Hurley takes a breather and then all of a sudden sees Jacob’s house. The funny thing is it looked like 2 people were in the house. Is one of them Locke? How did he get to the mirage so quickly if not? Hurley hears Jacob, is he special too? Is Ben’s dad Jacob? Why is there a hound dog on the wall? Did I notice that just because I like hound dogs?
Kate finds Naomi and gets a phone call from the offshore boat. Naomi lies about getting tomahawked by Locke and then dies.
Locke manipulates Hurley to think he is out for the best interest of everyone. Sayid finally asks Locke the question, “Why did you blow up the freaking sub?” Hurley volunteers to tell Claire about Charlie.
Flash Forward to Charlie showing up at the mental ward. I was hoping that Charlie wasn’t dead. I really liked his character. I mean Milkhal has 9 lives why can’t Charlie? I mean how did Hurley’s friend see him if he wasn’t really alive? Welcome to the Twilight Zone. Charlie tells Hurley that they need him, which leads us to believe that some of our favorite losties don’t die but get trapped on the Island. Hurley counts to 5 and Charlie is gone.
Jack comes out of the jungle and knocks Locke to the ground and points and fires the pistol only to find it’s not loaded. This was intense. He was really going to kill him!
The Losties are divied into 2 camps. Locke followers and Jack followers. Why doesn’t anyone demand answers and make people talk? Why do people follow Locke? Make him answer some questions!
Jack and Hurley play HORSE. Jack becomes a Ho, Hurley likes Ho Hos. Jack was checking up on Hurley to see if he was going to tell the secret, and says they are never going back. Hurley says never say never. Hurley should have went with Jack, which means this episode was a pivotal episode in seeing the end of this great tv show.
We see Jack and Kate talking by the nose of the plane, they both like Pina Colada’s and getting caught in the rain. We see a helicopter come wobbling down, (is the island about to make the chopper crash) and a parachutist lands on the Island.
Are you Jack?
